Malkin Clears The MSM's Gitmo Fog, Shines Light On Facts MSM Ignores On Comforts Given Detainees

Syndicated columnist/blogger/Fox News guest host Michelle Malkin can always be depended upon to cut through the cant, obfuscation and intellectual blather to get to the truth on any hot political issue. She's one of the, if not the, hottest Right columnist these days, taking on the toughest issues and often nailing the scoops ahead of everybody else.

Her latest column focuses on Amnesty International's outrageous comparison of the U.S. prison for captured terrorists at Guantanamo Bay to the Soviet Gulag. Aside from proving AI knows nothing about either place, the comparison has sparked justified howls of protest and done damage to the organization's credibility that is likely beyond repair.

Leave it to Malkin to go through the FBI report used by AI and shine the light of honest analysis on the massive evidence contained in that very document and other sources that prove U.S. authorities at Gitmo have gone far beyond the call of duty in respecting and accommodating the religious faith and other needs of people who want to see Americans die by the millions.

Here's just one passage from the column, as it appeared in my old newspaper, The Washington Times:

"Erik Saar, an army sergeant at Gitmo for six months and co- author of a negative, tell-all book titled 'Inside the Wire,' inadvertently provides us more firsthand details showing just how restrained, and sensitive to Islam -- to a fault, I believe -- detention facility officials have been.
"Each detainee's cell has a sink installed low to the ground, 'to make it easier for the detainees to wash their feet' before Muslim prayer, Mr. Saar reports.
"Detainees get 'two hot halal, or religiously correct, meals' a day in addition to an MRE (meal ready to eat). Loudspeakers broadcast the Muslims' call to prayer five times daily.
"Every detainee gets a prayer mat, cap and Koran. Every cell has a stenciled arrow pointing toward Mecca. Moreover, Gitmo's library -- yes, library -- is stocked with Jihadi books.
"'I was surprised that we'd be making that concession to the religious zealotry of the terrorists,' Mr. Saar admits. 'It seemed to me that the camp command was helping to facilitate the terrorists' religious devotion.'
"Mr. Saar notes one FBI special agent involved in interrogations even grew a beard like the detainees 'as a sort of show of respect for their faith.'"

When the truth gets around the Muslim world about such accommodations, there could be a mass rush by terrorists to be captured by U.S. forces just to get shipped to Gitmo!
